Improving Local Governments

SAP&DC works to increase local government capabilities by identifying their needs.

SAP&DC provides the services governments need to improve their ability to serve the community.  Services include: training in technology and infrastructure, regional planning, economic and community development, and information technology.

SAP&DC identifies the needs of local governments with one-on-one interaction.  As part of the Municipal Outreach Program, SAP&DC maintains memberships in various government associations such as the Pennsylvania Association of Township Supervisors (PSATS), the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania (CCAP), the Pennsylvania League of Cities and Municipalities (PLCM) and others.

Regular attendance at the associations’ state-wide and local conventions gives SAP&DC the opportunity to distribute informational materials and interact with local government officials.

As part of the Municipal Calling Program (MUCAP), a SAP&DC staff member visits the communities we serve to interview one or more representatives from each of the 241 municipalities in the Southern Alleghenies Region.

Using information gathered from the Municipal Outreach Program, SAP&DC continually revises and develops new programs to further assist local governments.
