The access road improvements to the Hastings Industrial Park have been completed. The newly constructed “paper” street, Brubaker Street, and Legacy Drive, which is an extension of Sunnybrook Drive that leads into a cul-de-sac, was dedicated in a ribbon cutting ceremony on Thursday, November 21, 2019.
Hastings Area Industrial Development Association (HAIDA) President Richard Stewart welcomed everyone to the ceremony and thanked all who were involved in completing the million-dollar project. “Funding for the access improvements were made possible through a $550,000 grant and $211,261 in additional funds from the Appalachian Regional Commission’s (ARC) Access Road Program and a $212,810 TEA-21 Earmark provided by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA). The access improvements will allow for future development projects within the Hastings Industrial Park,” said Stewart.
The Southern Alleghenies Planning and Development Commission (SAP&DC), a regional planning organization, helped to submit the application in August of 2015. In October 2019, the project was approved for additional funding through ARC to assist with unforeseen costs. Grannas Brothers of Hollidaysburg, PA was awarded the construction contract by PennDOT Engineering District 9. The road was designed and inspected by H.F. Lenz Company of Johnstown, PA.
“Completion of this project is an important milestone for continued development for the business park. ARC has stepped up, time and again, to ensure this project became a reality. They constantly prove to be a valuable partner in the Southern Alleghenies Region,” said Brandon Peters, Transportation Program Manager at SAP&DC.

About the Hastings Area Industrial Development Association
The Hastings Area Industrial Development Association (HAIDA) was formed in October of 1955 to promote industrial, economic, and community development in northern Cambria County and surrounding area. The Hastings Industrial Park is currently comprised of two manufacturing buildings that employ a total of 150 people and also lies adjacent to the Golden Living Nursing Home and Miner’s Medical Center.
